The Balancing Act Trust was set up to 

 

  • Focus on attitudinal change that can be brought about via the performing arts, fine arts and allied arts. 

 

  • Encourage the use of creative arts 

 

  • Promote promising new artists and persons engaged in training and research activities.

 

  • Encourage new developments in the performing arts, fine arts and allied arts.

OUR WORK

2003 - Balancing Act Productions produced India’s first Interactive Courtroom Drama, ‘The Verdict’ and the entire proceeds of over 8 lakhs from the Premiere of the show went to DEEDS an organisation that facilitates the ‘Education of the Girl Child in Kashmir.’ 

 

2004 -TWENTY PERCENT of the ticket proceeds of ‘The Graduate’ was given SAMARITANS a SUICIDE help-line for the depressed, despairing and the suicidal. With the alarming rate of exam related suicides in that year, it is felt that SAMARITANS is a cause that needs to be promoted. 

 

2005 –Proceeds from the Improvisational Comedy-‘Imps’ and a show ‘My Way’ were again given to  SAMARITANS as young suicides continued to rise. 

 

2006 - Balancing Act Productions funded & produced a short film for ‘NANHI KALI’ an Organisation which supports the Education of the Girl Child. This film is currently being used to attract International Viewership and. This was also sent to film festivals globally. 

 

2007 -  A portion of the proceeds of ‘The Wizard of Oz’, a musical for children , was used to support the MSSI—Multiple Sclerosis Society of India which supports, counsels and even helps fund the treatment of this neurological degenerative disease.     

 

2008 -   Through a Self- Development Course conducted by Divya  numerous NGO’s were supported by through both volunteering and funding efforts of an NGO for the orphan boys - Anand Ashram 

 

2008 –Divya through Balancing Act Productions organized for the orphan boys of Anand Ashram their very first Sports Day. 

 

2009 - The proceeds of ‘Arcus’, a play for children , was used to support the Care-to Cure charity which supports children suffering from Cancer.

 

2009 - ALL THE PROCEEDS from the EDINBURGH FRINGE FESTIVAL performance of “A Personal War” went to the POLICE COMMISSIONER’S OFFICE IN MUMBAI.

 

2010 - TWENTY PERCENT of the ticket proceeds of the performance of ‘A Personal War,’ from the New York International Fringe festival was given to the Police Commissioners Office Mumbai earmarked to be kept aside to create better protective uniforms for our policemen

 

2010- Divya, through Balancing Act Productions organized a get together for the orphan boys of Anand Kendra with dance classes and a party with snacks and soft drinks

 

2011 -TWENTY PERCENT of the ticket proceeds of the performance of ‘A Personal War,’ at the Melbourne Fringe Festival and the Sydney Fringe Festival

were given to the Police Commissioner’s Office Mumbai. The money was earmarked to be kept aside to create better protective uniforms for our policemen.

 

THIS DECISION WAS MADE TO IN SOME WAY SUPPORT THE BRAVE MEN WHO LOST THEIR LIVES PROTECT OUR CITY DURING THE TERROR ATTACKS. 

 

2013 – Divya, through Balancing Act Productions, organized and funded a day of entertainment for street children through of the Angel Express which included sports events, games, drama, poetry and ended with food and soft beverages.

 

2014 –Through YouTheatre, promoted 4 NGO’s free of cost - Adhar, Kranti, Welfare of Stray Dogs and AngelXpress and fundedvideos for them to use later on to garner support and to educate people about their work. We also gave them a platform, to create and help visualise their brand message allowing them to reach interested audiences, helpers, sponsors and organisations.

2015 –Through YouTheatre, promoted 4 NGO’s free of cost - Aawhan Palak Sangh (an NGO for the mentally challenged), the Tribals of Jawhar, Humara Footpath and the Indian Association for the Promotion of Adoption and Child Welfare. 

2016 –We supported the Tribals of Jawhar and Mokhada, the Kamla Mehta School for the Blind , The Deaf School and Raah Foundation.

2017 -We supported Nanhi Kali- A Mahindra Initiative.

2018 - We supported Nanhi Kali- A Mahindra Initiative.

2019 - We supported and created films for Roti Bank, an Ngo set up by the Former Commissioner of Police-Mr. Sivanandan
